Anglian Home Improvements built my conservatory and later I found the foundation of the conservatory around one corner was sinking and projecting away from the brickwork below the DPC layer. I reported this to Anglian in July 2022. However, despite my many telephone calls and emails, Anglian failed to initiate remedial actions. This quickly led to cracks appearing in the conservatory brick wall and for the floor tiles to crack. That part of the floor was felt to be wobbly – we felt, for the risk of collapse, it was dangerous to use the conservatory anymore. We were concerned using the garden as a potential collapse may injure someone. Just due to my persistence, I was able to persuade Anglian to start remedial actions in June 2023 – almost a year after my initial reporting this to Anglian. At the time, Anglian found that one arm of the conservatory lacked a foundation at all!! The whole wall on that side had been built on a long lintel without any under support!! Substandard foundation endangered the health and safety of my family (and all who used the conservatory). I had to spend lot of my valuable time to convince Anglian that they need to rectify this (lots of emails, phone calls, etc). Anglian left the premises without redecorating the rebuilt walls and left the entire area dirty. I had to pay and redecorate the conservatory, apply mastics, and clean. However, Anglian has so far failed to reimburse the extra expenses that I had to bear. Although I complained to Anglian through emailing AnglianCustomerEngagement@angliangroup.com and telephoning 08001313356, I am yet to hear from them after more than 6 weeks. Last time I rang them, the customer service officer advised me that Anglian have contacted their regional office before and that Anglian cannot do anymore to help and asked me to contact their CEO!!! I have already reported Anglian to Trading Standards and The Glass and Glazing Federation. I think the bottom line is Anglian only ‘takes the jobs’ from customers. They then hand them over to their regional offices. Anglian as no oversight of the work they do (otherwise how could they miss the absence of a foundation!!). As such, although the customers assume they have given the job to a company with a name – the company (Anglian) has no idea how the job is done. Therefore, the work cannot be depended on. More importantly, when an issue arises, I found it was extremely difficult to reach them. Even when you reach them, their responses are frustrating and disappointing and delayed. I felt the management team had no idea as to what they are doing or supposed to do. Going through the Trustpilot reviews, most of the happy customers are, in fact, still in early parts of their journey with Anglian (and I feel sorry for them, as they don’t know what is to come!!). Like them, I was very happy at their ‘selling phase’. But negative feedback is almost all from the customers who have had the jobs done and experienced how bad their jobs are. A score of 3.9/5 after 30,000+ reviews with 21% giving either one of two stars is bad enough. Please read this and reconsider giving Anglian a job. You can get a better job done through so many others. I will NOT RECOMMEND Anglian to anyone. Don’t risk your money and your safety.
