Disclosure; by no stretch of the imagination am I an espresso connoisseur.
I have the regular Nespresso machine and have always wanted a selection of strong affordable organic espresso. I found Artizan Coffee online and ordered the Stout snd Heavenly.
I first tried the Stout. I had descaled my machine to make sure it was clean. I found this more sour tasting than deep strong espresso. I thought maybe it was so sour because Somehow some leftover descaler solution hadn’t rinsed out. I couldn’t drink it and tossed that cup.
I moved onto the Heavenly. I think it’s less strong but it still tastes more sour than deep rich dark. Maybe it’s a matter of getting accustomed to the different tang.
Tried the Stout again. Still is a sour more than deep rich flavor. I added in a little agave nectar which helped a lot.
They both produced an espresso crema. I'm going to keep trying but for me as a matter of preference the Heavenly gets almost 4 stars because it’s organic and not horrible. However, for my preference, I find the Stout to be so sour that I feel it under the back of my tongue. I really don’t enjoy it plain without sweetener. So I give it 2 stars, because it’s organic but tastes pretty bad. If you average them out you get about 2 1/2 so I rate 3 stars overall. I’ll see if these grow on me since I started with 20 sleeves, and if so and possible I’ll update this review.
Would I order these organic pods again? I’m not sure? I like the idea of organic espresso however, these do not check all of my boxes, no matter how much they price out at.
