Very easy to renew online. Have used Auto Aid twice including one time on a minor road in the middle of Bodmin Moor with no Mobile or WiFi signal when the Auto Aid staff were excellent in finding where I was and getting me assistance even though it took them 2 hours liaising with local agencies.
