Very disappointed with how my case has been handled by Aviva.
After disclosing hospital tests — including an ECG — during a policy application with their appointed broker Reassured, Aviva later voided my critical illness cover, claiming non-disclosure. I was transparent in the call and even authorised them to contact my GP. But instead of reviewing that, they blamed me for a broker error: the broker recorded a “no” where it should have been a “yes”.
Aviva’s own review acknowledged I did not act dishonestly, yet they continue to deny the claim and cancel the policy. Worse, they’ve refused to accept liability for the broker acting on their behalf — even though that broker was the one submitting the answers to Aviva.
This isn’t about a misunderstanding anymore — it’s about accountability. Customers shouldn’t be penalised for things outside their control when they’ve done their part to disclose in good faith.
Would strongly caution others to be careful when dealing with intermediaries and to double-check everything that’s submitted — especially when the insurer won’t.
