I bought some outside cable in the week which has done a wonderful job, a great product.
Basically needed some more, so went into store on Saturday 1st June. I managed to find what may have been the same cable, however it was the last one and was unpacked and shoved onto the shelf. It had been used in my opinion. However at the time I wasn’t too fussed. I took it to customer services to see if maybe they had some more in stock out back or could order me some. The lady at the desk Elise I think was her name was incredibly helpful and friendly. With very little info and no packaging or barcode she tried to help me identify the cable. With not a lot of luck she called over what I can only think was the supervisor(Died Red Hair Elderly Lady). After a little digging she apparently identified the product. I kindly asked as I was willing to buy it unboxed and unlabelled.. if I could have a small discount on it as it couldn’t be sold as new.(Which I believe is law)
At this point the supervisor very rudely stated:
‘Well your not going to keep the packaging are you?’
I stated ‘No but it’s a possibly used, unlabelled, unpackaged item, that I’m still willing to purchase. I’m just asking for a small discount, as I don’t really want to pay full price for an item that’s not new.’
Your supervisor stated ‘Well if your not willing to pay full price £28 then I won’t sell it too you.’
As you may have guessed I left the store feeling very angry at the treatment I received and the blatant bad attitude from your supervisor who seemed to think it was ok to try and sell a used product for new. This should not have been on the shelve anyway, or at least should have been in the bargain bin.
This is not the first time I’ve come across this, but after today I felt enough is enough, I’m going to complain.
I went in to buy some firewood recently and found a stack of wood on the shelves unpackaged, was told then cant sell it unless I paid full price. Bought a chiminea some weeks back, got it home, found rubbish inside and the top plate smashed. Decided to give the store the benefit of the doubt as I felt I could still use it. Paid full price for that still though.
Re shelving used products as new seems to be a habit at this Swindon store. Feel like the store maybe needs to be investigated. I pretty sure this is illegal.
