Purchased a 2021 SEAT Ateca in August 2025 that developed faults shortly after. While that could happen to any used car, it's Big Motoring World's disgraceful handling of the situation that warrants this review.
At Sheffield branch diagnosed the issue, arranged the repair process, and explicitly promised full reimbursement when I followed their technical team's instructions to get it fixed at JCT600 SEAT Menston (Case ID: 5626). I have this promise in writing.
Despite completing the repair as they directed and submitting all invoices, they've completely failed to honor their reimbursement promise. My case was marked "under review" on 09/09/2025 with zero communication since then. Multiple email reference numbers (518868, 530990, 535855) but no resolution.
I'm now pursuing this through The Motor Ombudsman and considering legal action. Under Consumer Rights Act 2015, dealers must bear repair costs for faults present at sale - this isn't optional.
The car itself is fine now, but BMW's business practices are appalling. They make promises they won't keep and ignore customers once they have your money. Save yourself the headache and buy elsewhere.
UPDATE: Currently escalating through Motor Ombudsman as Big Motoring World refuses to respond to legitimate reimbursement requests.
Email trail and case references available if anyone needs evidence of their poor practices.
