If you need a course that is not offered by one of the public school boards, this is a good option, although it is costly. The D2L course platforms are easy to follow/use. However, if your child has a Learning Disability and an IEP, note that you will have to advocate for those accommodations. Additionally, their final assessment includes an exam worth 30%, as opposed to having the 30% final assessment broken into two components: a final culminating activity/ISU and a final exam, which is standard practice in public secondary schools. This created an added level of stress to the 30% final exam, which is video-taped, as there were no review notes/materials provided by Blyth Academy other than a vague Quizlet to support students in preparing for the final exam. Also, there were no breaks allowed, despite IEP accommodations, during the video-taped exam, which again added more stress to the final exam.
