I was asked to "randomly" requested verification of my address.
The need for this was not communicated, or stated on your website, or at any point during the transaction.
The email went into my junk mail, and there is a very good chance I would not have seen it, and would be totally unaware of the issue.
As a new customer to your website, it does not make me feel welcome to use your website. If this information was required, it should have been stated and made clear throughout the whole process.
