At the Photography Exhibition, on the 21st. March of this year, at the NEC in Birmingham I purchased an Epson SC P600 A3+ Printer because I had read such very good reviews and had spoken to several individuals at Calumet about this printer.
When I set this printer up, on the 31st. March for the first time, I noticed quite a pronounced 'crunching' noise as the printer prepared itself to print. In addition, I had also noticed that there was some degree of difficulty in inserting each individual ink cartridge and even more difficulty when I tried to remove them again. Initially I thought that these were just 'features' of this new printer and would disappear in time. This did not happen, so I contacted Epson in the first instance and raised theses issues with them. They agreed to replace the printer, but unfortunately they refused to replace my P600 with a 'like-for-like', or a new printer and instead sent a 'refurbished' printer which I rejected, as the problems mentioned above had been there from the first time that the printer had been used.
Consequently I contacted Calumet as the Retailer and asked to have my P600 replaced with a new printer. Initially there was some hesitation in light of what Epson's Policy was, which was to replace my printer with a 'refurbished' unit.
However, in response to my second letter about the printer, in which I made reference to the Sale of Goods and Services Act and to the absolute requirement that an item be 'fit for purpose' Calumet agreed to replace my Epson P600 Printer with a new unit, to which I readily agreed.
I am very pleased with this outcome and, at present, I am delighted with the quality of output from this printer.
