I ordered a Nikon 7200 camera body from Calumet's Birmngham store on Monday 22 February and asked to take the 24 month free interest payment option available at that time but also to collect the body from the Birmingham store because I didn't want it posting to me as I was going away on Sunday 28 February. The man I spoke to was very helpful and emailed me a link to the finance company's website and I filled in the application form. I heard nothing from the store for a few days so phoned the store on 25 February and spoke to a female member of staff who said she would check out the situation and she subsequently phoned to tell me that it appeared that my application paperwork hadn't been finalised. I checked and completed the documentation and was soon advised by the credit card company that my application had been approved and that they had emailed Calumet to say they could release the goods. I phoned Birmingham store and asked if I could collect the body and was told they were awaiting notification from head office. I then rang head office and they agreed to let Birmingham store know that they could release the camera. I phoned the store and they agreed that I could collect it that day (25/2) and I said I would be there later that day. Up until this time my experience was reasonably positive apart from me having to make a number of phone calls to speed matters up but when I arrived at the store around 5.00pm to collect the camera I met very poor customer service. The member of staff who served me, and who I had previously spoke to on the phone, seemed completely disinterested in the sale and didn't offer to open the box or discuss any accessories that I thought she might have wanted to interest me in. I did ask for advice on SD cards for the camera and whether to purchase high speed ones and neither she nor her colleague could summon up any enthusiasm to explain the benefits, if any, of different cards. My daughter who was with me, and for whom I was buying the camera, expressed amazement to me afterwards about the poor quality of the service which she found much worse than her usual supplier - Jessops in Birmingham. I myself have also received far better customer service at Jessops and at Harrison Cameras in Sheffield. I was totally disappointed by the service I received in the store, particularly as I have had excellent service in the past at this store from both the manager and from a male member of staff both of whom were excellent and from whom I bought a Fujifilm XE2 in 2015. Lastly, I received an email from Calumet last week to say that you were offering £50 off accessories when purchasing many cameras including the Nikon D7200 - this wasn't mentioned by the assistant in the store and I do wonder if I qualified for this offer?
