I ordered a Nikon D810 online. Authorization with Worldpay went through OK and I received a confirmation email from Calumet. I received another email from Calumet later in the day. The email was very unprofessional looking; it was a forward of the earlier confirmation email, in it, the writer did not use my name, just started it with 'Hi', they then asked that I send them scanned copies of photo ID and proof of address!! The email was not signed, it just had 2 initials and no signature block. I rang Calumet and expressed my concern to their operative; she said that they were a reputable company with a London address, she asked if I would be happier sending the requested documentation to her email address. I declined and asked for the order to be cancelled. I have never before been asked to send copies of very personal data in such a way. I have bought many expensive items over the internet and this was a first. Calumet had already taken payment and it took 4 days for their refund to show up on my credit card account.
It would be very easy to create a phoney driving licence and proof of address to be sent in an email, so I don't see what Calumet would gain by having them.
I personally would never use the company again.
