I love Kohl's but their new credit card holders, Capital One, are very unprofessional and will ask for very personal bank information. I made a payment on the 1st that wasn't due until the 15th as I do every month because I'm retired with a fixed income. The minimum payment was $29 so I paid that until later when we were gonna pay off the card. I get an email stating that my account has been suspended. I also get it on their app saying that I need to resolve the issue. There has been no report of fraud or questionable charges on my account. They sent me to the fraud department to verify my bank account that I have paid them from since switching over to Capital One from their inhouse financing: all because I made a payment to the card. Upon calling the bank they told me that my suspension was due to: too many payments, too large of a payment, my authorized user was the one who made the purchase and the bank account wasn't in their name, they needed to make sure that I had enough monies in the account to pay the amount of $29, ect. I'm pretty sure there were more reasons, but I am having a hard time processing all these outrageous reasons to remember the other ludicrous reasons. They also asked me for a picture ID (I'm assuming a drivers license since the representative was not from America), my full SSN, and a complete unredacted bank statement from all the banks listed as a payment method. I was on the phone for over 5 hours with them on various different occasions to try to resolve the issue. I finally spoke to the "manager" after the last representative was very condescending in his tone to me. This individual finally told me that I was "randomly selected to get their bank reconfirmed." I am not sure I believe this story since they have already demonstrated that they lie and say a plethora of other reasons. She at least got me on the phone with one bank that actually verified the account with some issues from that bank that has been dealt with, but could not with my other bank who didn't bye into their questionable behavior and wanted to speak with me before they would give them any affirmation. Which lead us to the only other form that Capital one will use to confirm that I actually owned the account and that's a full unredacted bank statement with all my income and payments visible to them. I never once missed a payment, paid late, or even reported anything to fraud so I am not sure why the fraud department would be calling to reverify a payment account that has been used several times to make payments on this card. I now cannot use a card for this store that has all my rewards points associated with it and where you get Kohl's cash from. I'm very disenchanted with this whole process and can never shop at Kohl's because their credit card company is so unscrupulous as to want all my personal information that can be used to commit fraud from the very department that is supposed to protect a client from having fraud. The payments have been posted from my accounts as well, so my banks have honored all of my authorized payments which also attest to the fact that by virtue of payment, they are indeed my accounts. For the fraud department to want to verify my account makes it doubly suspicious.
