I just bought a low-mileage, older car from my sister-in-law's mother.
Doing business with family is always tricky.
I wanted to check out the car without being too overt about it, to keep family peace.
Spending the money to get the CARFAX report on the vehicle yielded two benefits:
1) It put my mind at ease by showing a very conscientious maintenance record.
2) It showed the value of the asking price vs. the street price for like make/model cars.
The car turned out to be quite a bargain, as was the CARFAX report.
