I was looking for R53 Mini Cooper S on Craigslist. There were many enticing offers, with "low mileage", "full service records", and "extras". When I narrowed down my search, using some CARFAX reports I'd found some interesting discoveries about my "favorites":
a) "low mileage" on a car can mean that a car was in a crash, then put away
b) "new parts" on a car can mean that a car was in a crash, then put away
c) "runs great, full service" can mean: yeah it looks alright, but I've only had it for a month, guaranteed service records as far back as I know (~ 2-3 months)...
With the help of the reports I was bale to not only separate the cream from the crop, but also negotiate a great price for a car that I really enjoy. Well worth the membership, Thanks CARFAX!
