I recently spoke with a Gentleman about a 1990 Centurion C-350 4x4. I spoke with him back and forth, a few different times. Each conversation fairly lengthy, & in great detail about this particular truck. It was completely “too good to be true”. These trucks are few, and far between. They’re rare, to say the least. I found one via Craigslist. One that wasn’t completely trashed. Low mileage, & all original. Using CARFAX in the past, on every vehicle I purchase(or thought to purchase)since 2005. “Old Hat” for me, I began my research via the CARFAX online. I searched the VIN, &...du-du-duuuuu! She’s been in a collision, she’s had several repairs since the assembly line. She’s something resembling a “Lemon”. She’s been repainted. She’s also showing over 300,000 miles, with multiple discrepancies. She’s not what the Gentleman describes at all. Thinking perhaps CARFAX got it wrong. I found myself giving the Gentleman the benefit of doubt. I personally inspected this truck, & Bingo! CARFAX was spot on, this truck was definitely a hard pass. Silver lining, a few weeks later I found another, confirmed the validity via CARFAX. Everything checked out, she also passed my personal inspection perfectly.
