I used CarFax to check the background on my 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS. The report showed that the car had been totalled when it was about 1 year old, then rebuilt and retitled. Other than that it had a good service record, so I had my mechanic inspect it prior to purchase. I was able to negotiate a very fair price and I love my car!
