I've purchased 3 used cars over the last 5 years and CARFAX proved to be a critical component to my search. On three separate occasions, I found the vehicles that looked great, drive great. However, after running the CARFAX reports, vehicle histories showed failed smog emission test, an accident, and a repo / too many owners. CARFAX even utilized the vehicle history to estimate how much the vehicle is worth relative to similar vehicles.
I would never purchase another used vehicle without a CARFAX report!
