i was in the market for a 90's vehicle in high demand. Carfax allowed me to check history at my fingertips, the minute a new add came up. I quickly found out that the model I was after is very prone to odometer rollbacks, salvage, and other title issues. I eventually found a diamond in the rough with low miles, and in great condition. Had I not used carfax I believe I would have settled for a lesser car.
