I lived in Ireland for a few years, many, many moons ago. In that time I DID NOT get an Irish welcome, like in the commercials. Instead my experience of Ireland was more The Magdalene Sisters than Ballykissangel. I was isolated. Because I did not have an Irish accent. I was seen as "not being from round these parts" and " a foreigner" I am a tornado and volcano waiting to explode, for being severely abused throughout my existence.
