I am extremely disappointed with my experience of buying a car from Peter Vardy Carstore Hillington. There were problems right from the start of the process through to the end. The reason for my dissatisfaction are briefly detailed: Firstly, after seeing the car I wanted on the Peter Vardy website I went to the Hillington Carstore to view it. On arrival I was told that the car was in fact not there and that I could not view it or test drive it as it was in Edinburgh. I bought the car based on the photos and on the premise that it would be ready for collection within 3 days and prepared to the standard of other cars in the showroom. This was not the case. After arranging a pick-up date and time for the car, set by staff at the Carstore, when I arrived to collect it I was informed that the car was not ready and that I would need to come back the following day. The reason given was that the car was not clean. This was a significant inconvenience and also meant that I had to contact my insurance company to reinsure my current car for an extra day. The following day I tried several times to contact the Carstore to ensure my car was ready for collection. No one was able to tell me if my car was, or would be, ready for collection at the scheduled time. When I finally got the car the standard of the valet/preparation was terrible. There were traces of dog hairs in the boot and the smell of smoke within the vehicle was pungent. Cleaning within the vehicle was far below the standard of other vehicles in the showroom. There was also a sizeable hole in the carpet in the driver’s footwell. I took photos of this damage before leaving with the car. When I pointed this out to the staff I was given carpet mats for the driver and front passenger footwells after insisting something be done. The seats of the car were still wet from cleaning. There were visible scratches on the interior panelling. If I did not need the car I would not have accepted it. The inconvenience of not accepting the car after it not being ready the previous day was too much. After I returned home with the car I noticed impact damage to the front bumper in the lower right corner. I needed the car for work the next day or I would’ve brought it back for repair. I have since also noticed that the owner’s manual is missing from from the car, as is the cigarette lighter cover. I have since had to pay £100 for a professional standard valet to remove the stains and dogs hairs from the car’s interior and mould from the carpets which were soaking wet when I received the car. I have kept the receipt for this. I will now also have to buy an owner’s manual. This is not what I would expect paying £11908 for a car. Especially after being told repeatedly that the cars are prepared to such a high standard. I will not buy another car from Peter Vardy. I would not recommend Peter Vardy to anyone after my experience.
