I ordered a "Canterbury Superfine Beaver Fur Felt Trilby Hat and paid 391.17 GBP (pounds) on sale December 18, 2023 (invoice #19160) as confirmed by Christy employee Steve Wright. The hat was intercepted by US customs and held until I paid nearly $200 more in import duties and shipping fees. Christys declared to US customs that the hat was rabbit fur, not beaver, according to Christy employee Jonathon Boston. When the hat arrived in January 2024 it was immediately clear to me that this as no beaver fur hat (I own two real beaver fur hats, and I know beaver from rabbit). IF it was beaver it did not say so in the inner lining, and it was nowhere near the quality of beaver from other makers. I requested a refund of the financial difference between what I ordered and what I received. Christys ignored my request beyond requesting a photo which I sent. This is not the same company that it used to be. I have owned 3 panamas from Christy in the past two decades. I'll never buy another hat from them. I feel scammed.
