Ok, so before I give any feedback on Collide Records, let me go back a bit. I ordered my first U2 Songs of Surrender Deluxe Five CD Set from Amazon and it was shipped in a flimsy Prime bubble wrap bag. I don't need to tell you the condition that I received it in, it was all smashed up, packaging torn and ripped up. So I said ok fine, these things happen, even though at the back of my head I remembered that they shipped an Arctic Monkeys CD for my daughter in the same flimsy bubble wrap bag and it arrived cracked. So I proceeded to call Amazon Customer Support to see how best they could have this rectified. After being on the phone for almost 45 minutes, the rep eventually told me that they'd send a return label for me, but the thing is I just wanted an undamaged copy, me being an avid U2 fan and all. So I decided I'd order another copy if they would package it differently to prevent it from reaching damaged the second time. If the second copy reached my hands undamaged, I would return the first copy. So I asked the rep, "how would Amazon know to ship it differently this time? Are you going to make a note?" His response was "You're good to go, I don't need to make a note of it, as our conversation is recorded, and they'll know what to do the next time around." So I asked again, "Are you sure?" To which he replied, "You're good to go." So naturally, I placed the order for a second copy. A week passed and my package shows up, in the same flimsy bubble wrap bag again. After opening it, well you guessed right, I now had two damaged copies on my hands. At this stage I'm livid, and needed to vent, and warn future buyers about making the same mistake, so I wrote a review, only to receive an email stating that it can't be published because it wasn't about the item. Can you imagine that? Anyway, one night while online I decided to look for another source for my music and came across Collide Records, but the reviews I read, written about this store were perfect. Is this too good to be true? So I shot them an email and I got a response in a timely manner, stating that they had the set that I wanted. I explained the situation with Amazon, and the owner, Greg, assured me that he understood the importance of receiving items undamaged, as he too, was a collector. So I went ahead and placed the order for the Songs of Surrender CD Set, along with three other U2 Albums. It was shipped out not long after, but when I received my CDs this time, they were all packaged inside a box, inside another box, all individually bubble wrapped, mint and undamaged, with a personalised thank you note. Long story short, I will never purchase a CD, Vinyl or anything music related from Amazon again, ever. They would all come from my good friend Greg at Collide Records. Thank you so much again Greg.
