I am appalled with the service I received with Compare the Man and Van. I had my driver changed 5 times which was within a few days of my moving date which is extremely unprofessional. On the day of the move, I got a call from the driver at 8:30am (my booking was at 11am) saying he could no longer come at 11am and was coming at 12noon. I asked why and he said the customer who booked before me was running late, therefore needs more time. I stated that I booked 11am in advance, payed for that time and am now being told my booking has changed because someone else was running late. I refused to move my booking to 12noon because I booked for 4 hours so I could be done for my 3pm appointment. After some time, the driver said he will talk to his boss and get back to me. During this time, I contacted Compare the Man and Van, explaining what had happened, and was told they would arrange another driver. Around 15mins later, I received an email saying I had another driver from the company Lorin's Logistics. Lorin then called me asking what I needed removing, I said some boxes and one sofa (on the original booking I said boxes and possibly 2 sofas). He asked how many boxes and I said I was not sure as it's a house move but possibly around 50 but I can't be sure. Once the driver and 2nd helper arrived (I booked a driver and another person to help move things), my mother showed the driver the boxes and sofa in the garage. The driver was immediately very rude and said he would not do the move as there are too many boxes and he doesn't get paid enough for this. He claimed he was told 40 boxes would need moving, when I never specified that number. My mother tried to reason with him and said we really need to move things so agreed to have only 40 boxes moved, but he still refused. He walked out and headed back to the van. He told the helper they were going to leave which is when I questioned why and they answered saying there was too much to do, they have another job far away after our booking, the distance between the pick up and drop off location was too long (even though it is specified in my booking how far the distance is, and both locations are less than a 20min drive) and their boss had also apparently said this was too much for them to do. They then went off and started talking in another language we couldn't understand. While my mother tried to reason with them, I gave Loren (their boss) a call and explained what had happened. He was extremely dismissive, hostile and rude. He shouted that he would not let his men move our things, again accused me of lying saying I said 40 boxes when I didn't, which then lead me to end the call because there was clearly no reasoning with him. I then called Compare the Man and Van and explained exactly what had happened. The lady I spoke to said someone would give me a call as soon as they can but this was not good for me because I was ready for the move and needed my things moved before 3pm. I said I made a booking for 4 hours so I could be at my new place for my appointment and all of my things are packed and ready to go. The lady apologied for what happened but said she cannot help any further. When I told her I would need a van for the same day, she said she can't guarantee that. I therefore said I would need to book a van with another company for the day so asked whether I could get a refund and she said she could not confirm that either. After the call I had to book with another company which cost me double the amount I paid for Compare the Man and Van due to the short notice, and also came later than I wanted so I missed my appointment. Following from that, my mother and I have made several calls asking for an update and each time we called we are told the same thing - the company are working on the complaint and will contact us when they hear more. It has been over a week since the incident and I haven't received a single phonecall or email back I am extremely unhappy with the service I have received. When I made sure to book in advance of my moving date, specified everything I needed including the hours I would need the van for and the distance, I was accused of lying about the amount of boxes I needed, refused another van to pick up my things and have not had a single person reassure me that something is actually being done about this, that I will receive my refund or compensation after chasing frequently or even an apology. If you need to book a van for a move, please avoid booking with this company. You will risk being treated poorly by their employees and receive no help should something go wrong.
