Ordered washing machine from Currys which proved to be one of the worst decisions we have ever taken. It left us (i) without a washing machine for a long period of time, (ii) hefty laundry bills, (iii) hefty emergency electrical bill, (iv) over a dozen long and frustrating phone calls to Curry’s and Know-How, (v) two wasted Sundays, (vi) one lost half day holiday, and worst of all (vii) huge mental stress and frustration. On delivery, engineers claimed that the socket needed to be rewired for them to be able to install. They would come back on the same day to install the appliance. We looked for an electrician to come for an emergency call-out and fix the problem. Called knowhow said that she will get someone to come back to complete the installation the same day. Called again, and this time, he said that no one could come on that day…and worse…no one was meant to come from the start! We had to schedule another installation date. Engineers came and (apparently) installed the appliance. Before leaving, my husband asked them if they have removed all the bolts. They said that “there are no bolts in this machine” and that they “tested” it and it is working fine. Within 5 minutes of the machine being on (at low spin speed), it started making such a loud noise that everyone in the household was startled! The machine was vibrating so hard that everything on the table was falling over, and everything around it was shaking (including the granite, the wash basin, etc). My husband tried to hold the machine in place for 2 seconds (thinking it probably has not been fitted properly) but it was just wasted effort. We had to turn off the washing machine. Customer rep said that it is an “installation” issue only and will send someone over to fix it. Informed them of severity of the problem and that it is unlikely to be just an installation issue, but the machine just sounds faulty. Rep said that he will send the installation team to have a look, and if there is a problem with the machine (and not the installation) then we will have to call back. Engineers came and to our (and theirs as well!) huge surprise, shock and utter disbelief…there were BOLTS still in the washing machine!!!! How on earth can two qualified integrated washing machine fitters / installers NOT remove the most obvious and visible thing is beyond my (and anyone else’s) understanding! How on earth they “tested” it and said it worked fine with a bolt in the machine is on another level altogether! Engineers told us that they would report it back and that we will then receive a call to arrange for a replacement. They said that the appliance is not fit for use anymore, so they cannot install it. Called Know-How again and all we got was a “sorry”. Informed us that the washing machine we have is out of stock so they cannot do the replacement. We asked to speak to a manager about this and the whole horrible and frustrating experience we have had with Currys and Know-How so far but manager refused to pick up. Anyway, loads of call promises from KnowHow but not one single call back. We had to call every single time and be faced with the same horrible service. Still no solution provided to my issue and no news from Currys or KnowHow. Absolutely disgusted!
