Bought software from their website: Quickbooks Desktop. I received a download link from them and a license key, but it was missing a required product key. "No problem" I thought, I'll just contact support and get that info. 2.5 hours in, here is where I'm at: -Wasted fifteen minutes with their online "support" FAQ menus. -Called and talked with Krishpul, who asked me for my support tag for the computer (like, what?). I tried to figure out why they needed that. She told me to call tech support and hung up. -I called tech support. Couldn't get into the phone tree without entering a support tag from my computer (which is not even a Dell btw), so I hung up and called the Dell sales support again. -Talked to Shrikor. When I explained the problem, he hung up/disconnected -Tried again and talked to Olio. After doing some digging, she told me that Dell can't fix it, and I needed to contact Quickbooks to resolve it. I was like...are you sure? Or are they going to just tell me to call you? She promised me, and gave me two phone numbers for Intuit/Quickbooks support -Turns out that the first number was for Canada (I'm in USA) -The second one didn't ring through. Tried four times, and got busy signals. -Called the CA number again. Talked to a nice woman named Ellie. She seemed to understand the problem, asked If I could hold one or two minutes while she roped in a tech support person. I agreed, and held...for 20 minutes. Then I gave up and called back. -I reached Salina. She connected me with Randy in tech support. We worked on the problem for about fifteen minutes and I gave him my license number. He couldn't figure out why the license wasn't working for him until he realized that I was calling from USA and I needed to call a local number, which he gave me. So I did. -Called the US number. Spent 60-90 minutes on the phone with a great tech named Jessica. She got me running, overcoming half a dozen technical problems along the way, which would not have presented if I'd bought from Intuit (for $350) instead of Dell (for $250). Long story short: don't try to buy Quickbooks (or anything that might require order support) from Dell, unless the discount they offer is worth spending several hours on the phone unpacking and installing it.
