We found desktronic via google search after exhaustive research into both custom desk manufacturers and etsy, all of which proved to be useless in meeting the requirements that we had for a desk. With the launch of desktronic's UK presence and the accompanying opening sale, we overcame our distrust of veneered MDF wood and purchased two of the HomePro units as the company offers a height adjustable unit that also comes in a length of two metres, which is very difficult to find in commercially available working desk sizes.
Setup is fairly straightforward and the build of the undercarriage and leg units is beyond compare, with the wood desktop also appearing to be well constructed. Time will tell as to whether the top sections suffer sagging of any kind.
Cable management on the units could do with greater consideration from the manufacturer, as the desk comes with a small bag of flimsy adhesive cable ties that are meant to be used to fasten the cables wherever you choose to under the desktop. These started coming away from the desk surface no more than a day after we had stuck them, leaving cables dangling under the desk. We understand that there is a cable management addon that can be purchased separately but this does not address the challenge of the wiring that needs to take place under the desk once assembly is finished.
Overall the ordering process proved straightforward and delivery of the first unit was handled quickly and efficiently. Delivery of the subsequent unit proved to be more troublesome due to problems with desktronic's delivery partner, DHL, but this was most likely due to a surge in orders as a result of the businesses UK office opening. At a total cost of £720 for two desks, all in all a worthwhile purchase.
