The Stand is sturdy and compacts down very nicely into the provided bag, the reason for 3 stars is that the clip/locking mechanism is very poorly designed, and the u/v shape of the pin does not allow for the locking pin to push through the hole to hold the light in place almost every time. because the base is sturdy im not as worried about the lamp staying on top of the pole when stood straight up.
