Anyone reading this, avoid direct ferries like the plague. What they don't make clear when 'booking' with them is they're a booking agent, they hold payment and can take up to 48 hours to confirm if they've made the booking or not. I got stung while using them to go to orkney, an island off Scotland. My 'booking' sat as unconfirmed for over 48 hours, I tried and failed multiple times to speak to someone but all you get is an AI bot to chat with until I finally got through to someone while submitting a complaint all I was told is I had to wait 48 hours as they were still processing my booking. After about 60 hours from making the booking and a lot of my chasing they stated that they hadn't made the booking so would release the money being held. By this time the ferry was full (if i had booked direct with the ferry operator i would have got to travel, there was space available up until 44hours after i placed the booking with direct ferries). I decided to go with direct ferries as they were slightly cheaper (£5) but by the time they added their admin fee it was the same prices if I had booked direct with the ferry company. Customer service was shocking through the app, facebook messenger and email. Direct Ferries ruined what should have been a happy start to my holiday Booking reference is DFP190192844 if anyone from direct ferries wants to look into this
