Disappointed Dog Lover
I cannot recommend to anyone that they attempt to adopt a dog from The Dogs Trust. You can no longer visit the centre and view and meet the dogs they have, have a chat with staff about suitability or any of that. It`s all online now, fill out a basic form and they will magically find the right dog for you. Except that they don`t, won`t or can`t and they will leave you in limbo without any communication for three months and then send you a generic email asking if you want to re apply. I have thought about getting another dog, taken my time and made a decision to adopt. I have applied and then they just dangle you for three long months and come up with nothing. I`m three months down the line, still no dog that I have and still want after 3 months, but it`s 3 months of wanting and waiting for absolutely nothing. I can see the possible dogs I would like online, there are 22 of them in my favourites. Can I meet them? No No No Someone please explain how I am not near the top of any list of potential adopters. Had Border Collies for the last 25 years, have had problem rescues before, have had three dogs at the same time before, have countryside all around me, own house and secure garden, access to fenced dog areas, I drive, I am retired, financially independent, home all day, out with my dog/s at least 3 hours a day and socialise my dogs. I have absolutely no idea why they could not even recommend a single dog for me ( and I put on the form any medium size dog considered) in 3 months of waiting and that I was willing to travel to other Dogs Trust centres. This has been an upsetting experience for me and my thoughts are more for that lonely dog sitting in a pen at a Dogs Trust centre that could have been in a loving home for the last 3 months. Do better Dogs Trust, your reputation amongst dog lovers is declining fast.
