My home was built in the early 1960s. The door jamb was framed differently in places. The original door lock was installed off-center closer to the outside of the door. Deadbolt locks were installed in the early 1970s. When I put on the door guards I had to take some wood off the outside of the jamb to get the door to close. I had to use some 4-inch deck screws in some places in the hinge guards because of the framing. The deadbolt spacing did not match the spots on the jamb plate with the original door lock. I got everything very satisfactorily installed, but it took more than 5 minutes.
