Over recent years I've received terrible service from Couriers, with the sender being their priority, and a 'don't care attitude' when chasing a parcel via telephone. DPD were as bad as the others.
However, there seems to have been a marked improvement in recent months, especially since their Smartphone App was introduced.
Yesterday I received a text with an ETA, and I couldn't be in within those times, so I used the "safe place" option in the App. It worked flawlessly.
The text said mine was the driver's 95th drop. For a rural area, these guys must be busy.
