Delivery of our food parcel was due between 12.29 and 13.29. It hadn’t arrived by 4pm so I waited 35 minutes to get through to the helpline . They offered no explanation for why the delivery had not arrived. He said he would contact the local depot who would ring me as their number is not available to customers. At 6.30 I hadn’t heard anything so I sat again in a queue and then the Van arrived at 6.50. The driver had been in our estate at lunchtime but had been called away to deliver to Sainsbury’s for a 12 midday deadline . 6.50 was the next opportunity he had had to catch up with the missed lunchtime deliveries. I have no problem with our driver he has delivered here a few times but he had not received a call from the helpline asking to contact us with an explanation as to why he hadn’t delivered on time and he was following orders from above when he diverted on to other deliveries ahead of ours. Because this box contained fresh meat I think it was wholly inappropriate to divert the driver before our delivery was made. This event consumed our afternoon by having to stay in and sit on the phone. Seriously annoying .
