I hate it when you have to create and account to buy a product. It should be a simple, straightforward process where you need my email address and payment details, but instead you want my phone number, my DOB, sign up for an account etc. You have then made the options for emailing preferences hidden, only if you select that you don't want the newsletter do all the other emailing preferences highlight. This is 2016, you should have learnt by now people do not like spam and 1000's of emails, by default this should all be switched off and only ticked if people want to opt in (which I doubt). I spoke to a customer service rep through chat about all of this, as usual they add nothing and just apologise and say that's how it is. Very poor overall you need to change your checkout process and overall account policies.
