I got landed in a £900 debit of which I fully dispute. My meter started giving odd readings & edf stated they would send an energy specialist out. That was the last I heard until they whacked a £900 debit in my payments! I've always been in credit and never missed a payment. I'm disputing it at the moment. They've reduced the debt to £655 but I know I don't owe this. So disputing it again. I will go to the energy ombudsman if I have to.
