I bought a 3.5” diameter diamond bit (6” in length) to cut a hole in a 500 pound solid marble pedestal sink .. the walls were about 4”. It worked like a charm. I built a jig to keep the bit straight and added water to cool the bit and minimize dust. See the pics (seeing is believing)..
