I purchased an Xbox Game Pass code from ElectronicFirst.com, thinking it was a legit deal. After taking my money, they sent an email saying I needed to send a copy of my driver’s license or passport “to verify my identity” before they would deliver the code.
This is a classic scam tactic — no reputable digital seller asks for government ID to send a game code. They also block access to customer service unless you create an account, which is just another way to stall or gather more info. I’ve contacted my bank and am preparing to dispute the charge.
Do NOT trust this site. Avoid at all costs. I’m posting this to help others avoid falling for what I did.
Edit after response from Electronic First:
Their reply is laughable. They claim ID verification is “optional” — yet their system is deliberately designed so you cannot receive your product without handing over your driver’s license or passport. That is not “optional” by any stretch of the imagination. They also claim you can reach support without an account — this is a flat-out lie. It is impossible to contact support without creating an account. I even went along and made one, submitted a ticket, and guess what? They still ignored me.
The only thing they’ve managed to respond to is my public Trustpilot review, which tells you everything you need to know about their priorities. If they truly cared about resolving issues, they’d address actual support tickets instead of trying to save face in public. This is shady, manipulative, and 100% unacceptable. Stay away.
