I think that you should be more aware of some of the business practices of the solar contractors. For example, in my first round of quotes, one of them quoted a battery system which I was prepared to accept, but when I asked him about that price, he said the price did not include a full battery system. So, I dumped him and went to the next company. They did a very bad job of explaining their process (which turned out to be byzantine) and they inundated me with paperwork. Their proposed panel orientation design was convenient for them but would have reduced the power output by 30%. They kept asking for additional payments, including (incredibly) over $30k to replace portions of my roof, which I immediately rejected partly because the roof is still under warranty.
