Arrival time: 7pm, 5 April 2022. Location: Europcar desk in terminal 1. Problem: Insurance scam. Absolute scam. I should have read the reviews first. I didn't even take the car in the end despite having paid in full ahead of time for a car for 2 days (with insurance included and paid for at time of booking) to go to my aunt's funeral in Dublin. Figured it was better to leave car in airport car park than get caught by a further Ryanair/Europcar scam. Over €200 wasted and no car. Left airport in a taxi with my wife instead of risking taking a car from these scam artists. I booked this straight through the airline literally to avoid hassle (I repeat including insurance) and then upon arrival the lady at the Europcar desk proceeds to tell me that Ryanair insurance isn't worthwhile and that they need to block €1,600 off by credit card for insurance, despite being already fully insured as per my booking. I had zero trust that they would not further pilfer my credit credit card on top of what they had just done. I could foresee a number of imaginary scratches/damages and my credit card wiped out upon returning the car by this outfit. A total disgrace in this day and age. Rip off Ireland in full swing. For the love of God please read the reviews first and save yourself a lot of trouble. I had heard that they were bad but in this case seeing really is believing. No f***s given by staff. Just a shoulder shrug and a "better luck next time" attitude.
