On arrival we presented our print off of the booking arrangements (for the Aspire Plus Lounge) and we were directed to the standard Aspire lounge. Luckily we had been in the Plus lounge previously and we knew where it was located. If we had not been before we may have just accepted the lounge we were told to use (the standard lounge) and we would have overpaid.
The Aspire Plus lounge is not a particularly comfortable environment being generally lacking adequate heating. We told one of the staff about this (who agreed) and she turned the heating up. Surely this environment could be kept warm automatically.
The food on offer needs to be looked at critically. The mini pies are not worth eating being mainly pastry with only the most miniscule amount of filling. The Bruschetta's were very dry and unappetising having been left in a food warmer for a long period.I got a bacon sandwich which was a piece of bacon on a dry bun. Not a great sandwich. The soup dispenser had no pot installed. I was informed that this was because the biggest demand for soup was in the Standard Aspire lounge. It is only available in the Plus lounge if you ask for it and the staff get a bowl for you from the Standard lounge dispenser. This made me feel that as a Plus lounge customer I had a lower value experience compared to the Standard lounge clientelle.
The seating and tables in the Plus lounge need to be looked at also. In almost all locations the tables are either too high or too low (relative to the height of the seating) to allow you to eat your food from them comfortably. We ended up eating our soup with the bowls on our knees which is less than ideal.
Overall we felt that the Aspire Plus lounge did not offer particularly good value for money or provide a comfortable environment.
