It was so overbooked we couldn't sit anywhere. The bar had run out of anything that wasn't wine or spirits. They had no beer left, aside from some warm bottles of fosters. The food was dire. There were no cakes, the pasta and soup were cold and the salad bar was laughable. The bar staff were also rude and very aggressive to customers who expressed their disappointment in the poor selection of drinks on offer. One customer who said he was disappointed had a bald headed barman shout back at him "its not our fault is it"! At least 3 of us had to intervene and say the customer wasn't having a go and that the barmans response was out of order. In the end we stayed for an hour before giving in and going to departures and paying for drinks in a bar there. I feel tremendously ripped off, I paid nearly £50 for my partner and I to visit the aspire lounge. All this got us was a small side salad each, a Guinness (before they ran out) a small glass of the most acidic rose wine I've ever had and 2 warm bottles of fosters, which, let's face it, isn't exactly a drink most people would choose to drink. Wasn't worth the money at all, I will be making a formal complaint and will also be taking this up with the ombudsmen, as, under the sale of goods act, I do feel this lounge was miss-sold to me.
