Paul Dunford
I ordered a Car Stereo from Seicane (Big Mistake), Fedex text me to say i had to pay £54.57 (£12 of it is a fee for them). I knew after last time if i don'tpay it they won't deliver so i won' get to see the shoddy stereo i had ordered. I made no contract with Fedex to pay the customs charge, they could have easily text to say to go to gov dot uk and pay it, then they let fedex know to deliver, but No they pay if for me and add on £12. Now the stereo i ordered is incorrect for my car, i am fighting to get it collected and get a refund from the chinese sellers SEICANE. I spoke to someone on Fedex chat and was told i need to fill out forms of Gov website to claim my fees back, buy Fedex will keep my £12. Imagine all the hundreds of £12 fees they take each day. TOTALLY DISGUSTING COURIER This is the transcript Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:34:24): Hello, thank you for visiting FedEx.com I am Chloe and will help you today. Me (16/06/2021, 16:35:00): hello Chloe Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:36:15): I am sorry about this Paul. Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:36:47): In order to claim the funds back with HMRC you will need to fill in a C285 form. I believe this can be found on their website. Me (16/06/2021, 16:37:08): will they refund me the £12 fee Fedex ripped me off with? Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:37:29): No as that is a fee charged by FedEx for clearing the goods through customs. Me (16/06/2021, 16:38:14): But i made no contract with Fedex to pay the customs charge for me, and then if i didn't pay they'd hold me to ransom to get my parcel Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:40:28): If you do not appoint your own broker on the customs paperwork, it automatically means that FedEx will act as your customs broker. If you wish to appoint your own broker in the future, you will need to inform the shipper to add that onto the import documents. Me (16/06/2021, 16:40:35): Thats a lot of £12 Fedex are making from people by forcing them to pay Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:41:27): I understand what you are saying Paul. However, it's either pay FedEx £12 or 2.5% whichever is higher or appoint your own clearance broker that would charge more than £12. Me (16/06/2021, 16:42:31): The parcel was from China and i was not given an option to pay Tax there, it was hard enough trying to get them to write properly in English, now i have got weeks no doubt of trying to get them to get the parcel collected to get my money back. Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:43:20): You wouldn't have been given the option to pay it there, as this is a charge for importing goods. The charges for import tax and duty will always be in the destination country. Me (16/06/2021, 16:43:22): I had to pay £116 tax to Fedex a couple of months back for a parcel from Spain and that included £12 fedex Fee as well. Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:43:44): Yes, you have to pay for clearance, per package that is imported. Me (16/06/2021, 16:43:52): It seems like Fedex are making millions ea ch year doing this as i know it doesn't cost £12 to pay someone any money. Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:44:40): It's not just for paying HMRC, it's also for the work involved in clearing the package through customs. Me (16/06/2021, 16:45:15): Do the randomly pick parcels or do you do every single import parcel? Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:45:50): It depends on the value of the goods. gov uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:46:04): That link might be helpful 😊 Me (16/06/2021, 16:46:13): the more the value, the more we get ripped off. Me (16/06/2021, 16:46:18): thanks for the help Chloe Q (16/06/2021, 16:46:30): You're welcome Paul. Thanks for contacting FedEx today. Take care.
