I bought two matching pine chests of drawers. They were not very expensive, so I wasn't expecting anything of high quality, but I still think they were overpriced, particularly as they had to be self-assembled. The first chest took me over three hours to assemble, but the second took only just over an hour. Everything fitted as per the plans, but I was disappointed to find that the drawers had to be held together by screws alone. (The joints are butted, not dovetailed, and are not supported by dowels.) The finishing oil has a strong and not particularly pleasant smell. Don't lose any of the screws, because there are no spares! The chests were delivered sooner than originally advised and I received regular updates in respect of delivery, including a telephone call an hour or so before they were dropped off.
