Simon
There is something amiss with this company. I ordered a pair of Jogger Pants, which the website said “ships within 3 business days”. This was on 4th October. Three different e-mails confirmed my order & that payment had been taken. The last said “When the order has shipped, we'll send you a shipping confirmation email with the tracking information and estimated delivery time.” Then nothing. For 18 days! So I raised a ticket, by clicking on the contact us link in the last e-mail, to see what was going on. (All this time the item was saying in stock – shipping three days.) 2 days later I received an e-mail confirming that my order had been shipped. On this e-mail I later noticed: “Customs tax and duty is dependent on destination. The buyer is responsible for all associated costs.” So despite the website appearing to be UK based (since all the prices are in GBP - £) they are importing goods from China. 6 days later (still no other communication from Gamiss & no delivery) I receive an e-mail that says: “We'd like to inform you that your ticket has been closed automatically as we have not received any reply within 7 days after you submittted [sic] the ticket.” Reply to what? They had done zero. I had heard nothing to say what was going on. I forget how much later it was that my parcel arrived – some time into November. In the meantime, sure enough I found on the web site tucked away in the Shipping & Terms & Conditions sections: “Standard Delivery Time 7-10 days.) “Gamiss Shipments from China. All parcels are shipped from China and are delivered duty unpaid. Therefore, any and all customs or import duties charged by the local customs once the parcel reaches its destination country must be paid by the customers. Should the buyer refuse the package due to import duties or taxes, the buyer takes full liability for all the costs involved in the process. In accordance with customs regulations,Gamiss cannot declare purchased items as a gift or to state an amount lower than the actual product cost. Gamiss strongly recommends all customers to purchase shipping insurance during the checkout.” If this company is operating within the law then it is doing so with dubious morals. I have never bought something in this manner, only to discover by reading the small print that I am responsible for the import duty. This is not made clear. I wish I had read the feedback on TrustPilot – One star out of 530 reviews, & similar tales of woe. Please be aware what you are dealing with. My advice is to stick to reputable UK based online retailers. Stay away from this one.
