I sought a quote for a Renault Clio V6 2002 through Confused.com.
The best quoted price was from Admiral .. it was approx £1075.00. I attempted to insure online. I was told when attempting to pay that i needed to contact one of their advisors as there was a discrepancy in my application. The advisor told me that my licence details and claims details did not match. I explained that the two claims details.. both for under £200 (less than the excess on the current policy were nothing to do with me ).. there was also a speeding penalty of 3 points from over three years ago showing on my licence as expired. Despite all this when added to my policy they eventually (this took several hours) that the premium had increased to £2800.00 .. That is as close to theft as anything i have ever experienced... how do we know whether the information they have found is genuine .. and how to you remove it when it is not..The whole thing is a joke.. and to increase the premium by that amount for those reasons is in my view criminal. The confused.com website is causing the misrepresentation and allowing Admiral to waste everyone's time.
They both need investigating by the Financial Conduct Authority.
