Continuing on from the last post (below) I emailed as requested & Budget contacted us and offered £30 compensation for not dealing with the previous phone call & 2 emails - but then said they would only refund 50% of the premium, despite having promised during the first phone call that it would be refunded in full. They now say we must claim 50% from the other insurer - the much cheaper one who we DID actually place our business with & who have done absolutely nothing wrong. Of course this means we will be out of pocket, as will the other insurer. When I rang Budget back to query this they insisted this was their standard practice & claimed they had already written to the other insurer with all of the details. I've now spoken to the other insurer and - big surprise - they haven't had any letters from Budget. So basically Budget reel you in with a cheap initial quote then double it in the 2nd year & try to catch you out with auto-renew. Then even if you tell them not to renew they do it anyway and keep half of the premium. My job means I cant keep making phone calls during the day, so Budget, there's another email on its way to you. I only gave 1 star because there's no option to give zero. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
