I was pulled over for no insurance after mistaking insuring the wrong car (my partners) which is more expensive to insure for me being a new driver. Police understood the mistake and suggested I receive a letter of indemnity once I reinsured the correct car road side. (without this letter I get 6 points and a 300£ fine) explained everything to them which the staff were very understanding but the underwriters wouldn't budge on the matter because its not their mistake. Which I understand totally. But if I'm paying the higher premium car surely they could honor what I'm asking to send a letter understanding the mistake and willing to cover the period of no insurance.
