I took out insurance with general accident in July 2015 on my first car and made a claim shortly after (oops!), but the way my claim was dealt with was totally and utterly appalling. I was told that if I wanted a courtesy car (which is promised in my policy) I would have to wait two weeks for my car to go in for repair. When I logged a complaint about my experience I was told that this was not the correct procedure and the person handling my claim should have sourced a courtesy car from another company for me to use whilst my claim was being dealt with. In addition to this, I was given conflicting information on about 7 or 8 occasions over the course of a week as to whether my car would be written off or not (the damage wasn't that extensive, it was just the cost of repair and parts) and when it was declared a write off I was also given a number of differing figures regarding the amount I would receive as a payout. If you want to be supported and kept informed by your insurance company in the event of an accident, do NOT use general accident.
