Avoid this company at all costs. I had to make a claim. Someone had lost control of their car and struck my (parked) car, writing it off. In other words, it was a "no fault" claim. I had to virtually do all of the handling myself, from the hire car people, the recovery firm, the salvage agents and the solicitors firm. Virtually no communication or co-ordination from GA during the claims process. When I complained, they offered me a paltry £80 compensation. Then, when the renewal became due, they put up my premium by 54%. When I phoned them to enquire why there was such a large increase (bearing in mind that they would have been able to recover all of their costs from the other insurer), they wouldn't even offer me an explanation and their agent seemed to be reading from a pre-prepared "dummy sheet", saying they couldn't price match, market conditions etc. etc. - the usual rubbish. I moved both my insurance, and my partner's car insurance (also with GA) a few weeks later at the renewal. Once again, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I emailed General Accident on Tuesday 2nd July about an issue I was having with my telematics. My telematics device is recording that I am speeding on the majority of my journeys when I am definitely not. I have had several emails warning me about speeding hence the original email and I checked my scores. I also had a warning about ‘excessive speeding’ by going over 45 in a 30 but I am not speeding and definitely not by that much. I have had the same box and policy for nearly three years now but never had a problem until recently. I received a reply the same day which insinuated that the employee didn’t read my description of the problem properly as they had asked for a date and time of the journey and so I explained further my problem which is that its not one journey it seems to be the majority. I then received an automated email stating it could be 24-48 hours or longer if it’s more complex so I assumed it was more complex and they were figuring out possible causes as 48 hrs would have taken me to Thursday 4th July in the afternoon. I checked what the automated email had said on Monday 8th July because I was going to email again to chase it up but didn't want to put my case to the back of the pile as I know re-emailing some companies means this happens so I held on waiting on a reply, taking into account it had also been the weekend. This automated email stated 'We aim to respond to your email within 24 hours and so kindly ask for you to not send us another email as it may delay our response time.'. On the 9th July I received an email stating that my policy will be cancelled in 7 days due to excessive speeding which I haven’t done. I expressed on the 2nd July that my worry was the policy being cancelled when I am not doing anything wrong yet this is what has happened. There is no phone number to ring in such case which things 10x harder and more distressing. This is causing an emotional and financial distress. I received an email stating 'As you can see the warning speed, this is where you were speeding. 53.25431 -0.53556 18/06/2024  53.25458 -0.5173 A15 54 30.'. I then replied 'Those two locations take me to the same stretch of the A15 which is on Lincoln eastern bypass, is that right? Also, are you saying in this email I did 54 in a 30mph?' as the way that the email was wrote wasn't clear. I, again, didn't receive a reply other than the automated one saying they will get back to me in 24 hours which didn't happen. I then put in a complaint on Sunday 14th July explaining everything that had happened in which I received the same automated reply of 'We aim to respond to your email within 24 hours' until 18th July when they replied and confirmed that the telematics device is recording data correctly so they were going to go ahead and cancel my policy on the 25th July. In my cancellation letter it states that my policy was cancelled due to 'excessive speeding' and outlines that it is because I did over 45mph in a 30mph zone. I am still 100% sure I did not do this. The coordinates that they provided me both take me to the same stretch of A15 which forms part of the Lincoln Eastern Bypass which is a 60mph zone as indicated by National Speed Limit signs. The road is also a single carriage way therefore indicates it is a 60mph zone and I was under the speed limit by doing 54mph as recorded by the device. The original problem was that my box was saying that I was speeding on the majority of my journeys when I wasn’t. What the problem might be I do not know but I contacted General Accident in order to resolve it so my policy didn't get cancelled and, ultimately, that's what's happened. I even have videos from google maps of the coordinates and proof of speed limit signs but they have just ignored it. Throughout this whole ordeal they have not once read an email correctly or explained/proven how the box was recording correctly when I was telling them it wasn’t. If I am going out of my way to tell you it’s not recording speed right then I’m not going to be lying!! I also had to deal with them earlier in the year about an incident that wasn’t my fault. They were very confusing on the phone, back tracking what they were saying and just seemed they didn’t know what they were talking about. This is all a shame because this was my third year with them and I’d had no problems before.

Have been insured with G&A for several years with no claims. This year I have been waiting for a re -newel letter. I had to contact them thinking it may have gone astray in the post. After struggling to understand what the rep was saying I was told that due to being over 80years old G&A would not be renewing my car insurance. No letter of apology. I might ad that I was over 80 last year and had no problem, apart from the cost being hyped up. Am disgusted with this company, be wary.

My car was hit whilst parked outside my property overnight by a stolen vehicle. The police attended & supplied a crime number from which GA could obtain all the relevant details for the other vehicle / owners insurance as verified by North Yorkshire police, BUT GA couldnt be bothered to obtain this information from the police & claim through the other parties insurance, & decided themselves that it was easier to put the claim against MY insurance! I raised a complaint with GA after ringing NY Police to verify that the information was available to GA, but received a call from GA yesterday stating that ‘they will not be looking into my complaint any further as they have done nothing wrong & as they have no info. regarding the other vehicle it will be fault (claim) on my part. I asked if they had been in touch with police-- GA said they had last Thursday and as of now had no response’ AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE - THEY DON’T WANT TO DO THEIR JOB OR SPEND ANY TIME CHASING INFORMATION WHEN IT COMES TO NON FAULT INCIDENTS & WILL SIMPLY CHARGE IT TO YOUR OWN POLICY & EXCESS, & THEN CHARGE YOU EXTRA FOR THE PRIVILEGE FOR THEM NOT DOING THEIR JOBS WHEN YOU RENEW YOUR POLICY!

Horrendous company - Do Not Buy Insurance From General Accident Trying to contact them on the number they provided for two days in row. On every attempt I get an auto response asking me to hang up and try again later as all their operators were supposedly busy. They sell insurances to customers with a false pretence and then leave customers to keep trying to call them in order to sort out their insurances. They have one start review on most reviews sites including TrustPilot and the way they treat their customer especially when you have to make a claim is horrendous. This is basically like not having an insurance. Apparently they are part of Aviva so Aviva must be just as bad to associate themselves with companies such as General Accident. I am now planning to lodge a complaint with their two services regulators; the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

I have to say, I have not required to take out an insurance claim - by the looks of the reviews, I will probably never do it. That being said... I have been using GA for 2 years now straight after getting my license and I've had nothing but good things to say. They track my breaking and acceleration and I do admit from roundabouts to 60 roads, I do get marked down. The point system is on a 0-100 scale being monitored on: Speed, Time of day, Smoothness and length of drive. Any time past 10pm and you will get around 50-60 i believe for time of day. everything else for me is usually above 80. My score after 2 years has averaged to 71/100 which is still considered good driving and my premium has gone down. I have had to email when my policy renews as I took it out on 28th but I dont get paid till the end of the month so the money comes out too early. Making this change causes a double payment for the first month, one on 28th and one on the 1st but my last month is free. Changing this over the first time was a hassle and took about 2 weeks to sort. Their customer service is really lacking. And I dreaded the 2nd time around, but this was sorted fairly quickly after I knew what I was expecting. Overall they are a great telematics company (for the driving experience) and are quite lenient with the scoring.

62% increase in premium from last year. How can that be justified? Be very careful when taking out insurance with GA.

Horrendous company. I was hit by a car whilst stationary. Questioned like I was with fault when all evidence provided was good enough from my side. Documentation they ask for is like a on going list.I haven't been informed about whether the other party has been contacted. I am still hoping I will get the 100 excess back Stay away please

Dreadful customer service, mismanagement of an accident claim, incompetence including adding the record of an accident to my wife's insurance history that happened in a country she's never been to in her life and that they admitted that they think is a fraudulent claim by the other driver. I can't encourage anyone thinking of taking out insurance with them strongly enough to use another Insurer.

Useless company. They exploit young drivers, see them up with a black box, cancel their insurance with a 7 day notice and still £50 off their account despite the fact that they cancelled the insurance. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM

This company wants shutting down they are nothing but a bunch of thieves. They answer to nobody and get away with it because its big GA.i had moron crash into me while parked and drove off this was in November 2022 . He was caught by a witness and the case was settled in court. I have still not received my excess money when the car was repaired in December. I have had no contact from general accident whatsoever from day one except to contact their solicitors carpenters who are also a disgrace. They don't answer the phone or reply to emails. Until I read these reviews I thought it was just me I'm flabbergasted how many people have been scammed. Where is the financial conduct authority hiding not fit for purpose I even contacted the financial ombudsman who said it could be six months to get a reply. It seems to me they all s### in the same pot FRAUDS.stay well clear
