My home and contents insurance went from £468 to £490 at my recent renewal. According to the comparison sites it was already expensive. Made a claim near the end of my policy for a £620 camera and received a payment for £500+ shortly after, no bother.
Letter today, my new policy has gone up by £432.66 for this year, payable now please. So basically the camera payout was about 70 quid and my new premium was now over £900.
I asked how this worked as a business model but they couldn't answer and agreed it was a lot. I could speak with a supervisor after I had paid the premium.
Luckily, I am in my 14 day cooling off period so I decided we had better part company and the lady agreed. HOW DOES THIS WORK?
No wonder people do without insurance if it is pointless having it.
