Had a minor car accident which was not my fault. Phoned LV first question was is every one ok? which was good cars can be repaired people take longer. Had a phone call after to go through the claim very easy to deal with was informed within a few hours that my car would be repaired FOC was up-graded on the loan vehicle and was kept informed of all progress. Car now back looking as good as new. Many thanks

I have been with LV car insurance for almost 20 years with no claims. The last few years my premiums have increased. Again this year another increase. I decided to explore alternatives. Got the same cover, from a well-known and rated company for almost £200 lower than LV. When I cancelled my LV policy they were not interested in why. Very disappointing. Perhaps they should watch their own adverts.

Avoid LV Landlord Insurance - the policy is not fit for purpose. I took out Landlord Insurance with LV as they claim to cover: ‘Accidental damage, vandalism and theft by your tenants covered as standard’ ‘Your legal liability as a landlord covered up to £5m’ I had awful tenants who left the property damage and vandalised. The damage exceeded the security deposit by £1000. LV refused to pay out as; Rustam Hussain, customer relations adviser, closed my case as I couldn't prove the damage happened on one day, the previous tenants were un-cooperative with their investigation and the tenants caused the damage. As it was clear LV were going to avoid paying out I made inquiries about using the legal cover, which i had bought as an optional extra. I was asked to sign an engagement letter to say I would be responsible for up to £7000. This exceeds the amount you can claim in Small Claims Court. I would advise anyone not to use LV. I have now had to open a case with the Financial Ombudsman.

My home and contents insurance went from £468 to £490 at my recent renewal. According to the comparison sites it was already expensive. Made a claim near the end of my policy for a £620 camera and received a payment for £500+ shortly after, no bother. Letter today, my new policy has gone up by £432.66 for this year, payable now please. So basically the camera payout was about 70 quid and my new premium was now over £900. I asked how this worked as a business model but they couldn't answer and agreed it was a lot. I could speak with a supervisor after I had paid the premium. Luckily, I am in my 14 day cooling off period so I decided we had better part company and the lady agreed. HOW DOES THIS WORK? No wonder people do without insurance if it is pointless having it.

I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the way my home insurance claim has been handled by LV= over the past nine months. Despite this being a high-value claim backed by extensive evidence, including indoor and outdoor CCTV footage of the entire burglary, my experience with your company has been nothing short of exhausting, unnecessarily protracted, and deeply disappointing. Background The burglary at my home occurred while I was abroad on holiday in Malaysia and was reported to LV= within 24 hours of its occurrence, despite the difficulties of managing this from overseas. The incident was also reported to the police the same day. CCTV footage was provided to your appointed loss adjusters, Woodgate & Clark, almost immediately. Despite this, the claim process has been severely delayed at every stage. The original claim was split into two parts: 1. Clothing 2. Jewellery, watches, and named high-value items Rather than processing these simultaneously — which would be expected for efficiency and customer care — LV chose to investigate each separately, further extending the timeline. It took over six months for the clothing portion to be resolved, only after relentless chasing, complaints, and repeated follow-ups from me. Ongoing Delays & Poor Communication The jewellery and watches segment of my claim — clearly listed and insured as named items — remains unresolved almost 10 months after the burglary. A cash settlement figure for this was agreed nearly three weeks ago, and I was advised by my loss adjuster at Woodgate & Clark that the payment would be in my account by the following Friday. It is still outstanding. During this period, I have been forced to repeatedly email, call, chase and escalate at every step of the process. I cannot overstate the amount of time and stress this has cost me. The burden of progressing the claim has effectively fallen on me, with little to no proactive communication from LV or Woodgate & Clark unless prompted. Complaint Handling I formally raised a complaint with LV= around four months into the claim, and only received a response last week — several months later. In this, LV acknowledged that elements of the claim had not been handled in a timely manner and offered a £350 goodwill payment as a result. While the gesture is noted, it does not adequately compensate for the emotional toll, disruption to my life, and excessive time investment that your poor handling of this case has caused. Nor does it undo the fact that I’ve had to live without adequate contents insurance, as the burglary caused my policy to lapse and has since prevented me from taking out a new policy — something I clearly communicated to your team. Final Thoughts LV’s performance throughout this claim has been woefully below the standard expected from a company once rated among the UK’s best home insurance providers. While your staff were happy to accept increased premiums for named items on the policy, their handling of the claim when it mattered has demonstrated a lack of care, urgency, and coordination. To this day, had I not had full CCTV evidence, I strongly suspect the process would have been even more obstructive. I worry deeply for other genuine claimants who may not have been in as strong a position to prove their losses. Frankly, I feel undervalued, dismissed, and disrespected as a customer. This experience has completely eroded any trust I once had in LV=, and I will never insure with your company again. I’ve advised friends, family, and colleagues to avoid your services, and I will continue to share my experience to warn others.

Boiler has broken, no hot water or heating and theres the smell of gass. Theres a child in the home and I have "emergancy cover". After being passed around on the phone with no help in the late hours of last night, I was told to ring back this morning. Rang back this morning to the same problem. Aweful customer service and the emergancy cover that I pay is clearly useless with this company. I will not use them again.

Why bother? Dreadful treatment. After recent horrendous storm, they refused to pay for roof repairs. We were offered a pittance over the phone. We couldn't accept as we couldn't see how bad the damage was . They sent someone to take photos with a camera on a stick. First comment was that we had moss and this was the major cause of the damage, not the storm. Unfortunately we have just renewed insurance which is extremely worrying as we are nervous of any further issues arising that may require a claim.

I have been waiting for 5 months for my car to be fixed. I have been lied to, for 3 weeks LV lost my car, they canceled the claim so i had to hire a car then reinstated the claim, agreed to pay the hire car back then delayed this. Quoted FCA regulations which dont even exisit. Basically if they acn lie and delay and push you away they will. Lets hope the FCA do what they say and investigate them properly !

Shady practices from LV=. Made a car insurance quote on a comparison website and found that LV= offered the lowest price. Call them today to pay for this quote when the guy decided to go over the quote and ask questions including the fact that I wanted the documents by post. Do I really need to tell that twice? Anyway, after a while, he said that the price of £760 for the initial quote was void because of my conviction and that the new price is now more than £900. He actually used the conviction that I already reported on the quote to extorts more money from me. No chance. Good thing this happened so early, this shady company does not honour their quotes and who knows what other surprises they had in store down the line. Not for me that’s for sure.
